i don’t really “heart” football…

we went to the football game last night. i don’t really football. it’s just not as exciting as other things. and it makes me frustrated. but nonetheless, we went. and i was determined that i would have a good time. and i did. of sorts. it’s hard not to have a good time when you’re wearing {your favourite grey sweater, skinny jeans, and a black peacoat.} and it’s very hard not to have a good time when you’re wearing RED lips. but it is hard to have a good time when your team loses. 13 to 29. so i guess you could say i had a bittersweet time.

we are headed to a soccer game today. i do soccer. i know i’ll have a good time there. soccer is splendid to watch.

(Miss Tandy's presents are coming along nicely. but i need her to leave.
it's terribly hard to make big gifts in a tiny room.
terribly hard.
maybe i'll just lock myself in there for 4 hours or so and work like a mad-woman.
even though it is tiny.
but i have to say, she's going to be one very happy
little lady
on her birthday.)

yellow shoes and red lips make me happy.

i am in ♥ with Spirocreations on Etsy right now. their shoes just blow me away.

Tinkerbell Ballet Flats

Tinkerbell Ballet Flats

i think the Tinkerbell Ballet Flats are my favourite. but the Mary-Jane Moccasins are a close second.

Mary-Jane Moccasins

Mary-Jane Moccasins

this Husband and Wife team are marvelous. so talented. it makes my head spin. take a look if you can…

{i’m wearing a little graphic pattern skirt today. and red lipstick.} i’m happy.

we went to the grocery store earlier this morning. i found some LEGOS in the parking lot. only once in my life will that happen i think…

on tap for this day:

•bread baking in an apron.

•cleaning.

•making little felt flower hair-pins.

•writing letters.

•finding an ice-cream recipe for the party.

•and watching some Aaron Stone with Mr.Dante.

(i woke up in a sour mood this morning. Franny has been stealing my socks and wearing them for 3 days in a row. that is just as bad as when my feet get hot. i hate it. makes me want to rip up a thousand pairs of socks. including mine. *sigh*. the downs of living in a family of 7.) but you know something? who can be in a sour mood while wearing Reel Red lipstick? i.can’t.that’s.for.sure. so i put it on and made myself happy. i will always collect red lipstick. and then i will always be happy.

now i’m off to wish for shoes and bake a loaf of bread and cry over Rudy Steiner who died in The Book Thief today. (i finished reading it again. for just about the 5th time).

green coats in Narnia…

this is sports camp week for me. 5 days of following little children around and attempting to teach them ever so many things.

this is day 1. telling them to sit here, do this, and look at me. trying to get them to split their feet the perfect distance. to hold their bat up high enough. to keep their eyes on the ball and stop grinning and looking at me and keep your eyes on the ball and O you missed and i’ll laugh with you anyways. trying to get them to sit in a straight line. to follow me. to listen. button your lips. listen. listen. and not to mention listen.

i it.

so many cute things happened to me today. i saw a truck with the Pink Panther painted on the back of it. i finished Lydia (more on that in another post. maybe tomorrow…).  i found myself some new lipstick. Reel Red – i have it on right now. i went to a little thrift shop with Mumsie, Miss Tandy, and Lala mia. and i found Miss Tandy and i some splendid blue chests. 1 for her, 1 for me. i’ll fill mine with books and my writings and ribbons and letters and what-not. and Miss Tandy will fill her’s with i-don’t-know. i also fell in love with this coat—-even though it’s not red.

p-newerkav-juniper

the Juniper Newark Avenue Coat. so adorable. it’s by Christa Taylor, one of the most a.m.a.z.i.n.g. young ladies ever. she makes love in the form of clothing. makes me so happy. i like it a lot.

(seems i’m into coats right now because i miss winter. i want the cold O so badly. i was watching The Chronicles of Narnia yesterday and i almost cried because it was snowing in that film. i want the snow.)

speaking of films -i.e. Narnia- i really want to see The Time Traveler’s Wife. really. i’m practically in love with the previews. another one i cannot wait for is Bandslam (i think that’s what it’s called). my favourite part in the preview: when he wants to kiss her, he’s supposed to gently tuck a piece of hair behind her ear, and instead, he knocks her hat off….on purpose. too funny. i laughed my very loud laugh. the laugh that embarrasses Miss Tandy. that’s how funny it is. i really want to see both those.

Lala mia wants to go to bed. and i must go to get sleep for tomorrow. i have a long day of packing a blue chest up with books and my works and teaching children soccer and planning that smashing party that’s coming along ever so nicely (more on that tomorrow too).

anywho….off to my lovely little bed {in this blue+white flowered nightgown}.

PRICELESS

i had a sweet little time of S.Pellegrino and popcorn with my Lala today. we talked of absolutely nothing of importance. *smile*. those are the best conversations.

sitting at your dinner table with your older sister drinking San Pellegrino from COSTCO and munching on popcorn….priceless.

IMG_1255

Miss Tandy took some smashing pictures of me this morning. it was incredibly hot. and my feet got incredibly hot. but it was incredible.

dragging your bench into your little street with your younger sister while wearing a little yellow dress and jumping off of it while she snaps amazing shots….priceless.

IMG_1314

i made my button with my Lala and Miss Tandy. well, mostly my Lala made it. but i gave some input. a little. it was terribly fun. and i love♥ it.

making buttons for your blog with your older and younger sisters….priceless.

IMG_littleblackdress3

look here to find out how to get it on your blog. it’s easy as pie.

today was grand.

p.s. i got some new red lipstick  the other day..

Red Ginger Heels~

today was Church. our little Church is pretty darn lovely if i do say so myself. sometimes i find it a bit slow, but i always learn something new. something worthwhile. which i like. we got all dandied up (my Lala wore a new skirt she and i sewed yesterday. it.) and walked in late, all smiles. i like that too.

after Church we went on a ladies outing about town for some shopping today. we traipsed about a little clothing store, COSTCO, and goodwill. i ♥ goodwill.

{i wore my vintage high-waisted blue shorts (again) and a little pin striped blue+white blouse. plus red lips.} i felt superb. and like a lady. you always feel superb when you feel like a lady*wink*.

i scored a Do-it-Yourself Pilates kit, little black and cream coloured skirt, and a dress for a wedding we’re headed off to in 2 weeks. i cannot wait to wear that dress. i had quite the problems picking one, but in the end it was mostly Miss Tandy who picked it for me. which i don’t mind in the slightest. i hate making decisions. (i’ll have to stick a picture of my dress on here sometime…maybe closer to the wedding.)

i still haven't found myself an anthropology notebook...

lately i’ve had Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire on the brain. i adore those two. so cute. he was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. and she was incredible. i really want a pair of red heels to wear to the wedding. ones like Ginger Rogers had. but if i can’t find any, i’ll settle for less i suppose. some other colour. i would really like red Ginger heels though…

the colour of this little heart for those heels would be nice.

Miss Tandy is making pancakes for dinner. i think pancakes are one of the spiffiest things ever made. ever. ever. ever. i think i’ll go eat some ’cause they’re done.

love.

()()()sweet things in my head()()()

my hair is piled on top of my head and i have lipstick on. {i’m in Miss Tandy’s fuschia/magenta coloured pencil skirt.} i ♥ dressing up for life. just for life. gives me a reason to live. and laugh.

Miss Tandy put Smallville on. yay. yay. yay. i like Smallville. but you already knew that…

here’s a little something sweet.

()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()

she often left her hand in the most obvious places hoping he would touch it. on a table. dangling by her side. fingering something he would be looking at. but he never seemed to get it. he would always laugh and smile and come so close. his hand would almost brush hers. so close. but it never did. he never seemed to get it. and she thought it was unbearably cute. because when he did hold her hand for the first time, he just wouldn’t let go.

()()()()()()()()()()()()()()()

i have something even sweeter in my head, but there’s a few kinks right now. though i’ll tell you that it has to do with the county fair and adorable dresses and shy people and nervous people and kisses and an amusing trick. i cannot wait to write it.

off to Smallville. again. maybe with some tea this time.

love.

Delilah*

i’ve been flipping through some magazines. i tear out sweet little pictures i like, and keep them in a file for future references for my writing. i think i like to collect photographs of pencil skirts the best. and dresses. i ♥ pencil skirts and dresses. they inspire me. every young lady should own at least one{1} pencil skirt and two{2} dresses. at least. (and they’re O so fun to write about.)

*

Miss Tandy’s eating pop-tarts. we realllyyy like pop-tarts at our house. strawberry is the best in my opinion.

i think we get rice for dinner tonight. i’m so excited i’m *blushing*.

*

all those pictures i collect from magazines seem to make my characters more alive to me. i don’t know why, but when i’m describing the lovely little lady in the pale pink heels and cream coloured pencil skirt with cherry red lips, it’s easier to see her when i have a picture of the skirt (or something similar) in front of me. i suppose every writer has their quirks…

*

{i’m wearing a pale pink ribbon tied in a bow in my hair.}

i think my typewriter is calling me. about right now. exactly right now. but i think Mumsie needs some help in the kitchen. so my typewriter is about to get a lesson in patience.

*

i do believe that the little lady i have in my head this moment is wearing pale pink heels because of my pale pink ribbon in a bow in my hair. and that cream coloured pencil skirt, i found something like it in a magazine today. the cherry red lipstick, that’s on my windowsill. pieces of my characters are everywhere.

by the way, her name is Delilah. a fitting name i would say.

love.

r.i.b.b.o.n.s

my Lala was home. was is the key word here. she left. again. this morning. she went to a camp. and i’m sure she’ll have a smashing time. but i’ll miss her. and then she’ll come home, and i will be the happiest little lady on earth.

we had a terrible thunderstorm this afternoon. it hailed. very big hail i must say. and the funniest part…it’s still july.(this is possibly why i want some rain boots…*smile*)

{i’m wearing my Lala’s mustard-coloured pencil skirt and my Candied Apple lipstick. }

i got to have part of an avocado this morning. Mmmm….avocadoes and Candied Apple lips. yummo. }2{ of the best things in the world.

today has been about ribbons for me. i figured out that ribbons are one of my top 20 favourite things. here’s part of the reason why:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it was a little shop. very tiny. with white walls that glowed and a yellow ceiling that seemed to smile when you looked up at it. but it was only pieces of that yellow ceiling that smiled. because it was only pieces of that yellow ceiling that you could see. ribbons hung down from it. on hooks and clotheslines and shelves. on the walls. in bookcases. dangling off counter-tops and tables and chairs. strewn on desks. lying on boxes. ribbons of every colour. everywhere. a little bell jingled when he walked in. he seemed to belong in that little shop, with his ever-smiling mouth and bold, blue eyes. no one was in sight, but he heard a noise from the back room. “i was wondering if you could help me?” he asked loudly. “i’m looking for some ribbon.” “of course.” the reply was muffled. maybe because it’s owner had such a soft voice. “i’ll be right there.” he waited. but not long. she came out from behind a green door that was half ajar. her hair tied up on top of her head using a white ribbon. she wore a little blue dress and a white apron and no shoes. but he could glimpse a pair of yellow heels behind the green door. he almost laughed. ” hello Jenny.” she smiled. “i need 40 yards of ribbon the colour of love.” he caught himself. “if you would please.” “of course.” she said again out of habit, but a bit baffled. “now what colour would love be Francis?” he blushed and his face tensed up. “the colour blue, like your eyes and your dress.” now she blushed. “and yellow, like your shoes. and pink, like your cheeks.” they were darker than pink now. “and silver, like this ring.” he knelt down on the floor. “will you marry me Jenny?” he asked. she covered her mouth with her tiny hands. but then she dropped them to her sides. “of course.” she answered. he laughed. “i mean…yes. yes, of course. yes.” she laughed too. “yes.” and he picked her up and kissed her. all alone in a tiny ribbon shop. just they two of them. but they didn’t care. he only kissed her without a thought. and slid the silver ring on her small finger. and kissed her again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

that is partly why i ribbon. because it makes me think up things like that.

(the opera season is almost here. i cannot wait. i really want to see La Boheme.)

red lips? if you say so… hearts on your foot? of course…

the weekend at my Lala’s was a lovely time. of home-comings and goodbyes. just lovely.

we bought ourselves some red lipstick just for the sake of buying ourselves some red lipstick. {it’s called Candied Apple.} i it. i will certainly be starting a collection of red lipstick…

we dressed up all nice–i.e.Candied Apple lips and little summer dresses– for her little graduation ceremony, (see here to learn what she’s all about) and walked in a little late, with armfuls of gifts. so snazzy. i felt a.m.a.z.i.n.g. it was…priceless.

the little party was grand. we saw some darling friends and had a smashing time catching up over iced tea and cherries. i got to see Hannah Dear. and her adorable family. and then we had to say goodbye. to all of them. including Mr.Sam. so sad.

(but my Lala came home with us. *blush*. she’s in the kitchen right now. so happy.)

:::::there’s a yellow piggy bank next to me. bags of my Lala’s clothes on the floor. milk in the fridge. a typewriter somewhere in our house. and a heart on my right foot::::::

paint a heart on your foot? -----a small one please.

paint a heart on your foot? -----a small one please.

::::::we all had hearts on our feet. Franny, Miss Tandy, Lala, me…it’s a sister thing:::::

of course...who wouldn't paint a heart on their foot?

of course...who wouldn't paint a heart on their foot?

*my Lala just walked in and said, “Look! i have a Mary Poppins bag!” i would be jealous if i were you. who else but me has a Lala with a Mary Poppins bag?*

love.love.love you sweetheart. i’m glad you’re home.
